MHADA Auctions Five Plots in Mumbai for Over ₹192 Crore, Medanta Hospital Secures Prime Oshiwara Plot for ₹125 Crore

Mumbai, July 16, 2024 - In a significant move to bolster the city's infrastructure, the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) has successfully auctioned five prime plots in Mumbai for a total of over ₹192 crore. This auction marks a pivotal moment for educational and healthcare development in the city.

Medanta Hospital Secures Major Plot: Medanta Hospital, one of India's premier healthcare institutions, emerged as the highest bidder for an 8,850 square meter plot in the Oshiwara area. With a winning bid of ₹125 crore, Medanta significantly surpassed the reserve price of ₹67.49 crore set by MHADA. This acquisition is expected to enhance the healthcare services available to Mumbaikars, with Medanta poised to offer world-class comprehensive and affordable medical care in the city.

Educational Plots Acquired: Four additional plots, reserved for educational purposes, were also successfully auctioned:

  1. Pragat Shikshan Sanstha acquired a 2,000 square meter plot in Malad for ₹11 crore, marginally above the reserve price of ₹10.66 crore.
  2. Another 2,000 square meter educational plot was sold for ₹12.21 crore, surpassing the reserve price of ₹11.81 crore.
  3. Navchetana Charitable Trust secured a 3,010 square meter plot in Kannamwar Nagar, Vikhroli, designated for a women's polytechnic institution. The winning bid was ₹18.05 crore, slightly above the base price of ₹17.75 crore.
  4. Radhikabai Meghe Women's Education Institute acquired a 3,360.15 square meter plot in Tagore Nagar, Vikhroli, for ₹26 crore, significantly exceeding the reserve price of ₹21.52 crore.

This auction is set to contribute to the development of educational and healthcare infrastructure in Mumbai, aligning with MHADA's mission to enhance the quality of life for its residents. The successful bidders are expected to commence development activities soon, bringing state-of-the-art facilities to these areas.
